HemoExchange is developing a professional marketplace designed to connect UK diagnostic laboratories with verified blood morphology professionals for remote review capacity, specialist support and second opinions. It is being built around HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientists and HCPC-registered Clinical Scientists with appropriate morphology competence, together with GMC-registered Haematologists, so that access to experienced morphology judgement is less dependent on who happens to be on shift.

HemoExchange is being designed so that appropriately qualified morphology professionals may eventually be able to offer their expertise remotely, with control over when and how they work. The reviewer network is intended for HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientists and HCPC-registered Clinical Scientists with demonstrated morphology competence, and for GMC-registered Haematologists with relevant expertise. Requirements will apply. Appropriate professional registration, demonstrated morphology competence and current professional indemnity will be required of every reviewer. HemoExchange is not currently onboarding reviewers or accepting assignments.
About and governance

HemoExchange is being designed by Optymum SS (UK) Ltd as a telehaematology-enabled expert access platform: a way for healthcare providers to reach external morphology expertise for second opinion support, case review, remote consultation and professional collaboration.
HemoExchange is not itself a laboratory services provider. The intended model is one of facilitated access to independent healthcare professionals, each of whom remains professionally accountable for their own practice, working within the clinical governance arrangements of the laboratory they support. Trust in that model has to be engineered deliberately, which is why verification sits at the centre of the design.
